Grindnecks: 460 from hell

04/10/05  ||  Lord K Philipson

The info-sheet clearly states that, as if the name wasn’t fucken enough, Grindnecks plays grindcore. Well, I don’t think these guys are all about grindcore, this grooves a bit better than what grindcore usually does. The death and thrash metal influences are very present and just becoz you throw in blasts over a thrash-riff doesn’t automatically mean you play grindcore. Either way, these guys are alot better than expected, simply becoz I’m not a slave to the grind in the first place. I appreciate the catchy riffing and the overall powerful and versatile vocals from Joakim Proos. For some reason (thank you Vomitory) I have lately become a huge fan of crust in my metal, when done in small doses. Grindnecks use it every now and then and not to an extent that it makes it boring. I appreciate it, bastards.

The production is muddy enough and suitable for this kind of music. I could have wished for a little more cock in the guitarsound, but it works out anyways. I am pleasantly suprised with what Grindnecks have to offer. It’s alot easier to get into what these guys are doing, since it’s not about blasts and grind all the time, than what it is to get into yer average grindband, who usually thinks playing fast is good enough. Grindnecks vary themselves and makes sure there are alot of room for heavier riffs for you to swing your penis to.

Yes, The Neck’s are doing a fine job for sure with this release and I wouldn’t be suprised if their next effort is an album instead of another demo.

Good work, fucko’s.
